The Aston Preston Hall Short Film Competition aims to develop the creative and innovative skills of students through the use of technologies associated with film making and production. This initiative also aids students to develop critical thinking skills through an awareness and engagement of local, regional and global issues; respect for and understanding of regional identity, and a recognition and acceptance of the social, cultural and environmental responsibility shared by all.
This competition requires student-participants to use varying technologies to make short films of varying lengths addressing varying social issues.
AIMS
- To encourage dialogue around various social and current affairs issues which impact on the lives of UWI students and citizens locally and regionally.
- To teach and/or improve the directorial, production and film editing skills of students
- To develop the critical thinking and creative skills of tudents
ELIGIBILITY

This competition is open to all registered students of the University of the West Indies, Mona.
For the purposes of this competition, a group consists of more than one registered UWI student. Halls of Residence, Island Associations as well as Clubs and Societies may enter as groups. A group of commuting students, or a group of students from different faculties/halls/clubs/associations may also enter the competition.
