Don't worry...I guess
“Don't worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.”
---Excerpt from Baz Luhrmann's "Everybody’s Free (To wear sunscreen)"
Today this made sense to me after all these years. It came to me after searching through two major towns, in two parishes, loosing my temper thrice in 2 hours and still having to go home empty handed because as one sales woman puts it 'white dresses just aren't in style.' Can u believe the audacity of one woman who even went as far to tell me that I didn't need to graduate in a white dress because if I did I would just look like everyone else but instead I should get the nice pink one and she can find me a pair of shoes to match? I politely thanked her for making up my mind for me and going the extra mile to change university graduation regulation just to make me happy!!!
One would think that i could attempt to make a white dress but, alas, unless I want to turn up as the curtain hanging from the podium then I guess I am out of luck there too. Why? because in this secret plot to stop me from graduating not only are there no white dresses but also no decent white material to make a decent white dress!!! With only three days to go till graduation i still have no dress and no shoes. Unfortunately I have no fairy god mother to conjure one up for me so I guess tomorrow will be another day of searching in the hot Jamaican sun, sweating through my clothes like someone poured water over me and hopefully just hopefully I'll be able to say "Eureka! I've got it!!!!." After all I cannot graduate without a white dress and shoes and my mother says I MUST graduate, no two ways about it. Maybe I will have better luck praying for that fairy godmother after all...but I won't worry...no...not at all.
Hope the rest of you had better luck than I did.

I so love this song
This song always reminds me of Graduation and I love the part about "don't mess too much with your hair or when you are 60 your hair will look 80."
I also had this same dress headache when I was graduating, it resulted in me spending an exorbitant amount of money on a dress which to this day I haven't worn again. Learn from me, buy a dress that is reasonably priced and you can wear on another occasion, but still allows you to look fantastic for graduation. Good luck with the dress hunt.
